Description

The perfect trio from the azurri at the 2006 World Cup, in Germany. Every imortalized italian team starts with a big controversy. It was like that in 82, and it was like that again in 2006. Despite all that, the italian squad had a strong defense, creative midfield and a cynical attack.
They won their group with two victories and one draw. They won 1-0 against Austrália in the round of 16, 3-0 against Ukraine in the quarterfinals and, in the semifinals they beat Germany with two late goals after over time, by Fabio Grosso and Del Piero.
The final was nervous, and after a 1-1 draw, the italians revenged the Euro 2000 lost, winning in the penalties.
As any strong italian team, the defense had an incredible Gigi Buffon and the wall, and captain, Canavarro. The third partner for this trio was the magician Pirlo.
