Description

Champions league finals like the 97 in Munich have a little place in our minds. Dortmund and Juventus had some familiarity at this final. Four years before they faced each other on a two leg UEFA cup final. Juventus won with 6-1 on aggregate and they had two german players (Moller and Kohler) on their side, that moved to Dortmund after. Also Julio Cesar, the brasilian centre back, that didn't play the 97 final, and Paulo Sousa, the portuguese centre midfielder, played before at the vecchia signora and now are defending Dortmund colours.
The game was decided with two goals, in five minutes, by Riedle, in the first half. Del Piero reduced the goal difference, but the youngster Lars Ricken, sentenced the final for the germans, one minute after entering the match replacing Chapuisat.
